Good day All,

We are running Microsoft Dynamic AX 2012 R3 in our organization from past 7 months. I am experience now that MicrosoftDynamicAX_log file is occupying more space. In 7 pat it’s consume 0.98TB of space and my server is running in low space. How can I reduce or control the size of that log file?

Regards,

---

    Hello imtiaz,

I believe you are referring to the SQL Transaction Log for AX. You need to make sure you are backing up the log file so that SQL can reuse space.

If you are already backing the file, you might want to increase the intervals of the backup to more frequent.

You also should have a maintenance plane setup to deal with the size of this file.

If you are not a SQL Admin, my recommendation would be to notify your SQL Admin regarding the log size, so that they can properly setup a maintenance plane and backup.

You can also refer to the link below for additional information.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-the-size-of-the-transaction-log-file

A great starting point to build your maintenance plan is here https://ola.hallengren.com/

You can download Maintenance solutions from this link and just make minor adjustments to accommodate your needs.

    Hope this helps!
