Availability for more site logistics to help

Hi Everyone,

we are moving around bin locations and some may be will not even be active but our thought is not to delete the bin location from D365 but we would like to stop the location for input and output.

Here only one person can reach it.

we require 2-3 people that have the possibility to get a hold of this type of workload.

Some sort of business development role in the site logistics role.

Kindly let me know of any solutions for this issue.

Your suggestion or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Kind Regards,

Shariff

    Hi Shariff,

The screenshot you shared with the privilege 'View location lists' has permissions enabled for update and create which is not standard. That is why Nikolaj started his concerns about changing standard security objects.

To get the result of "Maintain, excluding delete rights" you would need to create a new privilege for the particular menu item and set permissions for Read, Update and Create and not for delete. Like your screenshot, but then on a new privilege "Create and update location lists".

    Hi Nikolaj,

    Greetings of the Day!!!

    Thanks for letting me know.

I am testing in the test environment to give access to the specific person and I am checking whether that person can able to do changes to the location or not.

I am only testing and I am not changing any security role in the system.

My request is to suggest what is the exact role or privilege should I assign to the person and I should inform the concerned person to assign that role for that particular workload.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Kind Regards,

    Shariff

It looks like you are starting to modify the standard privileges, which I do not recommend.

Changes you make to one privilege will affect all duties and roles connected to this privilege, so I think you need to stop what you are doing and revert your changes back.

Based on your screenshot, you will be changing the access of every security role in the system that currently has read access to the locations, to instead have create access. I doubt this is what you want.

Please consult someone with security configuration experience in your team, to ensure you get guidance on how to build a structure that matches what you are trying to achieve.

    Hi Nikolaj,

    Greetings of the Day!!!

    Good Afternoon.

    Thanks for your reply.

Here my question is if I give the user Maintain location access then he can able to modify or does he can able to change the location over there?

Could you please let me know which exact privilege or role should I assign for a user to change any bin location as per the below picture? and User is asking for the below action to be done at the warehouse location.

"we are moving around bin locations and some may be will not even be active but our thought is not to delete the bin location from D365 but we would like to stop the location for input and output".

    Hi.

If the user is only granted view access then they cannot perform changes but only view the information.

I am not sure what you are looking for when asking for "the bin location learning material, how to process it, and all"

Are you looking for information about how the warehouse locations can be setup you can have a look at this link. There is a lot of information about warehouse configurations there.

    Hi Nikolaj,

If we provide a user with "View locations' can that person change something in location?

Could you please provide me with the bin location learning material, how to process it, and all?

    Thanks in Advance.

To analyze which roles can maintain inventory locations in your environment, please use the "security diagnostics" option.

    pastedimage1665736739824v1.png

This will show you all of the roles, duties and privileges with access to the form.

But you need to find out which privileges contain access to maintain the locations, out of the box, it is the "Maintain locations" privilege, but there might other ones done in your environment as well.

Once you have identified the right privilege, you can use the security configuration to drill up and understand which duties contain the privilege and then the roles containing the duties.

    Hi Everyone,

    Greetings of the Day!!!

    This is a role-based problem.

if they want more people to help him and they don't have access it is only the security roles that can fix this issue.

so could you please let me know which exact role to be assigned for this type of workload?

your suggestion would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks, Everyone.

    Kind Regards,

    Shariff
