Create a new filter for Sales Reports?

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 35

Hello.  I use RMS.  I'd like to add new filters to the Sales Report and the Inventory Report, specifically so I can filter these reports by an item's "sub-descriptions."  For example, right now I can filter by "on hand" "category" and "department" and so on, but not by the "subdescriptions" which I set up in an item's properties.  One sub description I use and would like to filter with is the sub description season (e.g.  "F11" is Fall 2011).  How do I do this?  Thank you!

    You cannot add a filter to the reports, but any field that is in RMS can be reported on with Custom reports. We have a library of hundreds of these, like "Detailed Sales Report with Description 1, 2, and 3" that we can just drop into the Reports folder in RMS and they will show up for you to run, and then you can sort by them.

    You could memorize your current report as needed, then open in Notepad from the reports directory, usually "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\Reports" then append this column to the end of the report.  Append with appropriate fieldname and title for other database fields like subdescription 2 and 3.

    Begin Column
       FieldName = "Item.SubDescription1"
       DrillDownFieldName = ""
       DrillDownReportName = ""
       StoreIDFieldName = ""
       Title = "SubDescription1"
       VBDataType = vbString
       Formula = ""
       ColHidden = False
       ColNotDisplayable = False
       FilterDisabled = False
       ColWidth = 2115
       GroupMethod = groupmethodNone
       ColFormat = ""
       ColAlignment = flexAlignLeftCenter
    End Column
