Hi Experts,

I want to know the business usage of Prices rounding rules, which is upto 4 decimal places. Can anyone give me some scenario, how we can use this and what is the feature and benefits of using pricing rounding rules.

    Hello Vashisht,

Whether and to what extend the rounding rule comes into place depends on how you define your prices.

Many companies define prices per 1000/10000 pcs.

If you are doing that you can quickly get prices with many decimal places.

Some additional information and examples, can - for example - be found here:

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Vashisht,

There are some products which do require more decimals compared to the currency itself. E.g. we have the Euro with 2 decimals. Fuel is mentioned with a price per liter with three decimals. However, the invoice is always rounded on 2 decimals which is then controlled by the Amount rounding rule.

Thanks Dr. Ludwig, I read the blog mentioned by you, but nowhere it mentioned how we can use it in Dynamics Ax or D365, it would be great help, if you simulate this price rounding rule in D365 Finance, and provide me your answer with some screen shots. I am really sorry for my ignorance. I tried at my end to define values in rounding rule, but didn't know, how to check the outcome.

    Hi Vashisht,

From AX2012 similar question, answer was that Currency rounding up is not implemented in AX design.

So far, it has not changed in D365.

Answer provided: Unit prices are dynamically rounded to two decimals which is general client behavior following the standard numeric EDT. Expanding the rounding precision in general ledger setup will not help on additional precision.

so this setup is not used directly by the system. (not yet)

    Kind regards

I think there must be some logic behind this, why on other rounding rules places like General, Sales order, Purchase orders and FA depreciation MS given only 2 decimal places and for prices, they have given 4 decimal places.
