can you clarify the scenario  ????

what is the relation between sale order number and batch , serial numbers as they are var different ?

Batch and serial are used for tracking items ,

sales order number is unique identification number used to distinguish between sales orders

    Hi.

I know what you say , but I mean i want batch number and serial number of sales order line, be exactly like sales order number format. because in my company and our sales process we decide to use sales order number format  for it;s batch number and serial number too in line. and we do not consider another format for it. Is it clear?

    Hi 7Diamonds,

Within the number group (Inventory and warehouse management, Setup, Dimensions) you can specify that you want to create batch numbers or serial numbers at your sales order (Order activation). You can enable the Reference No. field to have your Sales order as input for your batch number. A sales line number is not possible. You can use the Lot Id (InventTransID) used at the sales line or a number sequence to generate an additional number.

If you want to have this behavior changed, e.g. the line number of the sales order, you have to customize it.

Hi ANDRE ARNAUD DE CALAVON. thanks for your answer. Is it possible to have a batch number group for a specific product on sales order and another batch number group for that specific product on inventory journals?

    Hi,

It is only possible to attach one number group on an item. What do you wish to accomplish with it?

    WARNING!

SalesLine line numbers are not always unique!   I have seen (in 4.0 & 2009) 2 sales lines under the same sales order with the same line number!

This happens when users insert sales lines multiple times.  If you create 2 sales lines and then insert another line between those first two lines, the 3rd line with have a line number 1.5.   Repeat this enough times and you hit the rounding limit, giving you 2 sales lines with the same line number.

The condition is rare, but you can bet it will hit on that 75 line, million dollar order that every manager wants processed yesterday.

Hi ANDRE ARNAUD DE CALAVON. I want to have 2 batch number on a specific product because of our sales process. we have a batch number on sales order line that must exactly comes from sales order number format, and have another batch number on that product on inventory. I think i have to customize it on sales line. Have any idea?

    Hi,

I'm going to lose you. now. Can you explain the 2 batch numbers. Is it a batch number per inventory transaction? Or do you want to use two batch number fields in AX?

Can you add some examples? This will make it more understandable.

Hi. we consider manual batch number for sales order and inventory transaction. our batch number in inventory transaction is manual. but batch number in sales order have to come from sales order number and copied this format to serial number in sales order line too. we have to save customer request in batch attribute and because of that we create a batch number in sales order line separately from batch number that is in inventory and after sales order create, we reserve a batch and assign inventory batch to sales order batch. our users request that we enable this possibility that batch number of sales order create automatically. but because for a specific product we have a manual batch number in inventory transaction. i don't know how can i do this request. I think i have to customize it. Is it true?

    Hi 7diamonds,

Sorry, I can't follow your requirement. Tou are talking about manual and automated for sales orders on almost one line. I really wonder what process and/or products you are talking about. If you are talking about the sales order and the inventory transaction. Is this the transaction related to this sales order line? Or is it another inventory transaction?
