Skype/lync onpremise problem after rollup 12

Hi, we have a customer that is on windows 8, office 2013, crm 2011 onpremise (rollup12 both server and client).

Lync onpremise.

When they now click the phone number for contacts for CRM contacts skype automatically opens. And that is problably how it should be after the update.

But the customer wants to use lync as it used to be.

When the phone number is clicked after skype is uninstalled they get a popup asking to choose the application for this action. Only option is Skype?

So how can we fix this, "revert" back to lync onpremise instead of skype.

We have tried to set the association for the callto protocol to lync, but lync is not an option to choose when we try to change it.

Any ideas ? Besides removing rollup 12.

PS : not 100% sure that its rollup 12 that is making this problem.

With UR12 or the 2012 Service Update, the default callto provider was changed to Skype. Lync is not actually supported with CRM 2011. This information is being updated to the link below.

Answer:  make the following registry entry per this blog:

I can also add that it is now possible within CRM settings to select either Lync or Skype.

This post describes how to set the "default provider," however, if running windows 8, per that above article, you'll notice that Lync no longer has control over "tel:" hyperlinks without the specified regedit.

I will also note that I am running R12 with Dynamics CRM Online, and am now (post regedit) using Lync 2013 client (against a Lync 2010 cloud hosted server) for click-to-call -- VERY convenient in that R12 pops up a Call note window so you're all set to log your notes as you talk without 18 more clicks!!!

I have now installed the R13 client and it still works fine.

    Hello,

I am facing the same issue and when I click on phone field of CRM , it call with skype.

I have change the setting for Lync but it didn't work.

I have seen that it use tel protocol and in my computer default program for this protocol is skype. So that is the issue where I can't call using Lync?

Here is the default program list for tel protocol:

    Thanks,
