Downgrade GP database from full version of SQL to express version?

Is it possible to downgrade from a full version of SQL to the express version with an existing database? I am needing to upgrade my GP Dynamics but to do this I also need to upgrade my SQL server. Previously due to another program I used to run as well I had to have the full version of SQL server, but now I am only running GP and it is my understanding that GP can run on SQL Express. If my datatbase is already being used in the full version of SQL server will it work if I move it to the SQL Express version? Are the databases compatible?

    Yep, you'll need the SQL Express MGMT tool to do so

    On other question then. With the Express version of SQL am I able to run Queries? Right now I have a Query I use to get one report that isn't available any other way in GP. Thanks for the info!

    Yes, you can.  As long as you observe what I posted above, all you need to do is a detach/re-attach

    I am trying to convert from SQL 2005 standard and wondering if I can convert to SQL 2012 Express.

    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition has a database size limit to 10GB. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express edition has a database size limit to 10GB.
