Error Message: Field 'Reference' must be filled in

Hi all,

Using Dynamics 365 for about a year right now. Would like to learn more, so figuring out more options to .

I'm trying to use the Excel Add-In to place a Purchase Order. I have managed to make a new Purchase Order using via Design > Add Table > Purchase Order Headers V2

I have to add the lines which I would like to add via Purchase Order Lines V2. However, I get the error message:

Error Publishing Details: 1 error(s) were encountered while publishing. 0 change(s) were successfully published.

Error Publishing Row Details: A row created in data set PurchaseOrderLinesV2 was not published. Error message: 'Write failed for table row of type 'PurchPurchaseOrderLineV2Entity'. Infolog: Warning: Field 'Reference' must be filled in.; Warning: validateWrite failed on data source 'EPCPurchLine (EPCPurchLine)'.'

I cannot find the 'Reference' Field? I was unable to find a step by step plan, so I might have missed something.

And is it necessary to see all the existing lines in Dynamics 365? I prefer to see only the lines I am creating.

Many thanks in advance!

Donna

    Hi Donna,

The EPCPurchLine table is not a standard table. Can you verify if you have a customization or ISV/partner solution? You can then ask the partner for guidance. It could be a bug in the data entity extension.

    Hi André,

Thank you for your response. I forgot to mention: Epc is related to my company; it is also used as 'Site'. I believe our system is partly customized. Does this mean I have to ask the partner for guidance? Or can I do something with the Reference Field?

    Hi Donna,

I think (but not sure) it is a reference field to the purchase order line in the EPCPurchLine table. You can check it with your partner.

I will contact them in the next couple of days! And will share what it was if they can help me. Thanks!

Does the EPCPurchLine table have a RecId based foreign key field that references PurchLine?

If the RecId based field is associated with the RefRecid EDT, then that might the field, since the Label on RefRecId is 'Reference'.

Sorry but I'm not sure if the table has a RecId based foreign key field that references PurchLine. Am I able to check that myself or do I have to contact my IT colleagues?

You will most likely have to contact your IT colleagues/Partner. My response is essentially the same as the one André gave you, but with a bit more detail about what your colleagues need to look for.
