Manufacturing Module: Items unexpectedly added to MRP exclusion list

Hello,

We use the manufacturing module and we've found that items are frequently showing up on the MRP Exclusion List automatically. These are NOT kits, services, miscellaneous, or flat fee type items that can't be removed.  We never add any parts the exclusion list, yet items that we purchase regularly through MRP end up on the list.

Any thoughts on how this may be happening? Is there a setting elsewhere that will put an item on this list?

Thanks

    Chris,

If neither of you made the change, it is possible a system utility like Reconcile or CheckLinks did. Here is a clip from the help about for the MRP Exclusions Build Window:

Use the MRP Exclusions Build window to verify the item, site, and item-site exclusions for your MRP information. You can use this utility anytime, but you should always use it after importing item information directly into SQL tables, after reconciling inventory quantities, and after checking links in inventory tables.

Are you using this Manufacturing Utility to verify your settings periodically? It can be accessed in Manufacturing >> Utilities >> MRP Exclusions Build - once there, click the Process button to run the utility. It will likely remove the erroneous record for the item(s).

RE: Manufacturing Module: Items unexpectedly added to MRP exclusion list

I do see what happens when the Calculate MRP boxes are not checked - it does add the item to the exclusion list, but it seems that we've had another item added to the list spontaneously without anyone unchecking the boxes. The "Calculate MRP" box IS checked under Item Engineering Data.

Under Item Resource Planning, the "Calculate MRP for this item/site" IS checked for both of our Site IDs, we only have two. However, the box is NOT checked for "Default Values."  That box under "Default Values" is also not checked on all of the other parts that we regularly use with MRP.

The item number was added to the exclusion list with blank in the site ID. We have two people (including myself) who touch this data and neither of us have knowingly made any changes to this item number. Is there anything else that could be going on to cause this to happen?

It seems like we should have "Calculate MRP for this item/site" checked under Default Values, but it hasn't caused problem for the vast majority of our parts.

    Thanks!

    Chris

    Chris -

Babu is on the right track here. You do not need to add items to the exclusion list manually. They are added when the check box in the Item Engineering Data and Item Resource Planning Windows for Calculate MRP are not checked and the item is saved.

Hi did you ever get to the bottoms of this.  Think I saw a similar thing and researching it now

    Hi Chris

Have you checked the item engineering data ticked for calculate MRP.
