Hi, we purchased D365 Finance and Operations modules and are interested in implementing the common data models. My question is, can we implement the common data models outside the power platform? For our use case, the D365 application will be integrating to restful endpoints hosted in AWS. However, we would like to validate the models received via restful operations against the CDM schemas. Is this possible?
Hi JBeytia,
If I get you right then you can use the "Common Data Module" information via what is called now Dataverse.
Please check out the following docs sites:

Best regards,
Ludwig
CDM (now Dataverse) is one of Power Platform components and it's a cloud service hosted by Microsoft. Therefore no, you can't take it and host by yourself somewhere else. But you can utilize it (such as calling its API) from anywhere you like.
There is a difference in Common Data Model (CDM) and Common Data Services (CDS). The replies above are related to CDS which has now been rebranded to Dataverse.
Is your question about CDM? docs.microsoft.com/.../
If so, can you tell what exactly you want to achieve? What are the endpoints in AWS about?
Hi Andre, thank you for your response. Yes, my question is just about using CDM outside the Microsoft platform. We are currently building a custom platform in AWS that will expose gateways by business capabilities (Sales, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, etc..). Our custom platform will run business specific rules, orchestrate data, etc. and send data to other applications in our ecosystem (platform). For example, D365 produces a sales order and posts that order to our platform. The platform will validate the JSON received to ensure it conforms to the CDM schemas. If the schemas are valid, the platform will send the sales orders to other applications in integrated to our platform (see example 1). So really what we're trying to implement is just the CDM (schemas) .
example1: Dynamics 3654 produces sales order and sends it to the platform. The platform send order to two other systems.
D365--> platform --> application1 and application2
I have not much experience with CDM and for sure not with a custom platform in AWS. Probably the documentation for creating CDM schemas can help you: docs.microsoft.com/.../creating-schemas
