Negative Physical reserve quantity

Hello,

Currently some items in the system have a negative Physical reserved in AX system, even if the allow physical negative quantity from the inventory setup is not marked.  What scenarios are causing this and how can I prevent this?

Thanks,

Most probably a modification on your part

Unless you are using CW - there could be some scenarios where CW items go negative on weight temporarily

Can you further explain what do you mean by CW.? the negative physical points to the QTY of the items.

    Thanks.

I assume you mean that you have a negative physical available after deducting physical reserved inventory from what you would otherwise consider on-hand.  Or, in other words, you can have inventory transactions in a Reserved physical state even when you have no on-hand at all.

This is actually quite common and easy in AX.  The reservation system is very loose and does not attempt at all to do what most systems refer to as "allocation".

As an example, find an item with on-hand.  Enter a sales order for that item for some quantity.  Then using reservation, reserve the entire quantity against that on-hand.  Your inventory transactions will change from "On order" to "Reserved physical" for that sales order.  Now using an inventory movement or counting journal, write off your on-hand quantity entirely.  Notice how this leaves you with 0 on-hand but your inventory transactions against the sales order remain in their Reserved physical status.  I believe you will then have what your original question described.

Of course, don't try that in your production system.

    Good luck!

    Hi Wiese,

We have same kind of issue like there is a negative physical reserved quantity in on hand form, but there is no reserved physical status transactions in inventory transactions.

Can you please tell the reason for this issue.

    Best regards
