I have long experience in ERP systems but I am fairly new to NAV.
After making some Power Pivot reports on the NAV database I am learning about the NAV database and structure.
We want to change the customer hierarchy not only on the customer card but also in the history.
Our consultant claims the database is complex an can easily be corrupt because you cannot see all the dependencies. I have all the respect for what you can do with SQL in a database but here I claim it should be possible. Am I right or should I forget about this option.
This is one example of what I want to do.
update "xxx$Dimension Set Entry" set "Dimension Value ID"='35',"Dimension Value Code"='1.1.2 xxx' where "Dimension Value ID"='92'
Thanks,
It is possible, but you need to be very careful and take precaution. Document it and have a plan to revert it back in case there is an issue.
You need to understand that there is a risk on doing it directly. There is a valid reason why we normally don't recommend updating the sql table directly, especially to a non-NAV people.
If you have done your research and have confidence, you can do it.
