Hi All,
I have developed Serverless build pipeline in D365FO. I want a do the DB sync before the compile the customization and package. I don't find the DB sync in case of Azure pipeline. There is a way to perform the db sync in Azure pipeline. Anybody work on this. Please help on this.
Thank you.
I understand the purpose of DB sync. I'm saying that if you want to test synchronization of your customizations, you need to do it after applying your customizations, not before.
You should have mentioned that you're intersted specifically in the hosted build. It's possible that DB sync isn't available there.
On my project, we're using our own build servers. The recommend approach is deploying a build environment, not to deploy a dev envrionment and then manually configuring it as a build server. If you actually open the link I gave you, you'll see this topic discussed at the very beginning.
Hi Martin,
Thank you for the quick response and providing the information, I understand what you are trying to say. We can just download the deployable package. but when there is customization like data scheme related changes like Data entities ..etc. I would like check whether the DB sync issues are encountering before the deployable package generate.
Basically I'm looking for a Database sync task in Azure hosting pipeline. Based on my understanding , Microsoft didn't provide Database sync for Server less Build pipeline/Azure hosting pipeline.
I heard that there is a alternative way to perform the DB sync by mapping to one of the dev tier 1 environment and perform the task.
let me know if you have any idea on this.
Then you may want to follow my link. On the picture, you can see the DB sync as the fourth step of the pipeline.
Thank you so much for your quick response and sharing the sample build pipeline configuration files. but I'm looking for DB sync task. I don't find it in your sample configuration file.
This is how the default template looks like:
You can read more about it in Dynamics 365 F&O Dev ALM guide.
By the way, what is the point of trying to synchronize the application with the database before compiling the application? Just downloading source code isn't enough; you need to compile it before you can work with the application.
Hello Chandra Sekhar M,
The default build that comes by default when a D365FO env is deployed comes with the DB syn step. I advice you take a look at that and add that agent to suit your need.
Here you could download the sample json file.
