DOCUMENT ATTACH SCAN STUCK IN LOOP - GP2016R2

We have recently upgraded a client to GP2016R2 and they are looking forward to utilizing the doc attach feature specifically in AP. Manually attaching a document works seamlessly however when attempting to scan a document directly from the doc attach window using the "Scan" button GP goes into a never ending loop.  The process goes as follows:

  • enter ap transaction
  • select paper clip on the menu bar
  • select scan
  • Scanner interface launches and user selects scan type (colour, black and white, etc)
  • First progress screens "Scanning Doc" works to completion
  • Second progress screen "Retrieving Data" appears and enters into an endless loop that cannot be cancelled without using End Task

I believe all the appropriate drivers have been installed and the scanner does seem to be working.

At this stage i'm not sure where the scan doc has been stored and where GP is looking to retrieve the data.

Anybody else seen this issue and have any ideas?

    Hi,

What is your current version of GP ? build number ? As previously stated, the 2018 January service pack has pushed back the scanner TWAIN support to another coming update.. I've not been able to test this as I don't have such a configuration anymore..

    Hi there,

I am just being introduced to this issue with a new potential client who has suffered through the purchase of two sets of scanners without success.  You were able to get it to work successfully on a new computer?  Was there something about the new computer different than the other that you think allowed the successful resolution?

MS pushed back to update that includes the fix for this to the next service pack. Whenever the next SP (mid-year) comes out it will include the updated TWAIN functionality.

    Hi,

After applying the YE updated from Jan 2018 the loop still occurs, do we need to change the driver to TWAIN?

    Thank you, Lkp

    Hi All,

Microsoft has announced that the January 2018 updates to GP 2016 & 2018 are going to fix the scanning issues, as they will now support TWAIN driver and let go the WIA driver support, which seem to be problematic..

    Hi Kyle,

In my case, the only resolution was to replace the computer with a new one and installed everything again.  It appears that it is not a very common issue.

    Hope this helps!

Was there a resolution for this issue? Client just updated to R2 for year end and is having the exact same thing. Thanks!

    Hello,

We're having the same issue as well. We've tried 2 different scanners with LAN and USB connection. all getting that 'Acquiring data - Percent Complete' box, this goes into an endless loop.

    Hello,

I'm having the same issue with one specific user for a client.  Were you able to fix this issue?

    Thanks!
