Sub grid add button - not adding new record but bringing up lookup field

Hi guys, i've added a number of sub grids to a form. All bar one work as expected. The one that i'm having issues with displays a lookup field when hitting the add button as per the screen shot below. this grid is showing related records only from a custom entity. there is a lookup field on the work time entity back to the job (the main form in this case). this relationship is working correctly.

if i click the grid button, then add from that screen, the add functionality works as expected.

any ideas (i don't even know how to phrase this for a search)

thanks in advance

you can do that using ribbon workbench. Hide the "Add Existing" button of the entity you're using in the subgrid

thanks Chadi and Rawish. it is because the related entity is optional. i do not want to change this to be required because time entries can be created without being attached to a job - eg "going to buy parts".

is there a way to make the + button launch the new record form without changing the lookup to required?

    Hi James,

it happens if on the related entity the lookup field of parent is optional. You have to make it mandatory to remove this search lookup. In that way once you click on + you will get the form straight away.

mark my suggestion as verified if helpful.
