We have users reporting that they are only able to attach one document to a Note in the Timeline. If they try to attach another, it replaces the first one. However, I CAN find other cases where some users have been able to do this. Why would there be differences between who can or can't? Any ideas what might be driving this? I don't believe it to be a file size limitation as I've tried adding two very small files, under 1MB in total, and it kept overwriting the previous file with the last file I selected.
I have the same question (1)

As far as I am aware, notes should be limited to a single file attachment per record. This is due to the fact that the file information (body, file name, etc.) are stored in single fields on the Note (annotation) entity.

I think your weird behavior is really with the users who say they can attach more than one file to a single note. I would ask them for some examples of this and then verify what is actually stored on the Note record itself. My guess is that there is a visual bug for the users where the new file is replacing the original, but for some reason both are still appearing on the note creation window.

Thanks Tom, however, I've seen it myself - here is an example, where I've opened each of the attachments to find out their file size:

A little further info, here is how that looks in a "Notes" Advanced Find query, so it doesn't seem impossible to me that this should be allowed. And yet, some users cannot do this. These are all "Regarding" the same Task activity, as shown below in previous comment.

    Hi Lyndi Avila,

Wishing you a fantastic weekend ahead!

The behavior you're observing—where one file seems to replace another when uploading a second document—is expected. I'm experiencing the same on my end as well.

As shown in the image you shared, the user has created multiple Note records for each document. It's important to note that each Note record can only store one document or image file. Based on my understanding, this behavior is consistent with how Notes are designed to function, and there doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with the system.

However, if there’s something I may have misunderstood., or if you have any additional questions, I’d be more than happy to help further.

Also, just a quick reminder—when sharing screenshots or videos, please ensure that any URLs linking to your Dynamics environment are removed for security and privacy reasons, may cause problems.

I hope this clarifies your issue. If it does, feel free to approve this answer.

    Best regards,
    Nitesh
