I created many segments in dynamics CRM. However, i want to manage and have fewer segments only. I want o delete the segment that I created. However, I have a doubt if deleting a segment affect the lead or contacts in CRM
Also, how is deleting and deactivating segment different from each other? What is the right way to approach removing segment?
Segments are however referenced in customer journeys. So if you use some kind of marketing dashboarding (or want to in the future), deactivating might be better.

Either leads or contacts won't be affected if we delete any of segment, because they are just queried by segment, in other word, there is no direct relationship between leads/contacts and segment.
Therefore, you can just remove them as business required.
