Importing Invoiced Sales Orders using Sales-header and Line Configuration Packages.

I am importing Open Sales Orders using table 36 (header) and talbe 37 (Line) in the configuration packages. I have imported Quotes this way already. I would like to import historical orders that were posted already in our old system. Is there an easier process to do this than to import all the historical sales header and lines and then post all of them. Will I get errors because of the dates being in the past? How can I be certain these items post on the days that I wanted them to post? I have over 20 years of data to import so any improvement on the process will be helpful. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Is there some documentation outlining this process?

Thank you,

-Peter

We don't bring posted documents or history, as this will cause the GL transactions and you need to handle now inventory and finance.  You need to bring only open orders which are not shipped and invoiced.

It's a bad idea to import the historical orders. It will be huge of work because you need to create and post the order, create and post cash receipt journal, and reverse the GL transaction. Just focus on the open order.

If they want the history, you can dump them into a separate sql database and do the analysis there.
