Is there a way to edit opportunity data from the list view, or a tool to dynamically push edits into CRM?

My sales people are older and used to tracking everything from a spreadsheet. Quick and dirty. The president of the company is used to reviewing data in a spreadsheet format.  From the Opportunities I created a custom system view which shows all the columns/fields we need to see which makes it look very spreadsheet like. They keep thinking something is wrong since they can't just click on a field in a row to change the data.  Even the president of the company was aggravated with CRM. I had to explain to him that certain fields will bring you to the record you click on like if you click on the contact listed it brings you to the contact record. He did get it after discussing record/entity types.

I am instructing them to click on the Topic field to open the record then make the needed changes. I am hoping there is a way to make it so they can actually click on the field and change what they need or add on tool that can dynamically give the spreadsheet like view but push changes directly into the Opportunity records. I would prefer not to export to excel, have the make changes and then import the changes. I have found some duplicates even though Allow duplicates is not checked off.

    Hi,

There are some third party tools available, which will allow from grid it self.

    Here are some links

    www.sonomapartners.com/.../configuration

    www.powerobjects.com/.../powergrid

    salimadamoncrm.com/.../dynamics-crm-what-options-for-editable-grids

if you don't want to go with 3rd party tools, then you can create your own editable grid, with HTML and JavaScript, and it will update data into CRM system.

If you are using O365, you can edit your opportunities in excel and save it in CRM automatically. Here's how:

    Hi Tom,

We have used AbleBridge's editable grid solution for at least 3 customers and it works really well!  www.ablebridge.com/.../editable-crm-grid

Also, Dynamics 365 is coming out with editable grids soon I think which might help if you upgrade to that version but not sure exactly what they will have from a functionality yet.

AbleBridge's would  allow the users to edit in the grid and it is very customizable to custom event handlers, etc.

    Thanks,

At CRMUG Summit last week in Tampa, Jujhar Singh from Microsoft announced "editable grids, editable grids, editable grids" to resounding applause from the audience.

The demo showed grids where users can update fields, including text, numeric, option sets and lookups. Also being able to drag and drop columns at will, and to group by a field, eg to list Opportunities grouped by Account. All planned for the next version - so a bit of patience and you will see this as native functionality.

I am using an on-prem system. We tried exports edit the spreadsheet then reimport but in some cases we ended up with duplicate Opportunities.

I am trying to get the users to spend the time to learn CRM. People hate change.
