Upgrading SQL server (SSRS reports)

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are planning to upgrade our current SQL server to a new SQL server to meet high availabilty requirements.

Most of the migration and remapping of apps to the new SQL server are straight forward. We do have SSRS reports and this is the reason for my question.

Our storage team is cloning the drives from our old SQL server to the new SQL server, the server names will be changing so I thought I would be able to remap the SQL server name within Great Plains then attempt to run the reports, until our DBA mentioned something about encryption keys. Am I on the right track or will I be required to import encryption, import/ export reports? And should this be necessary I will in fact need SQL server access or can this be done through SSMS?

Thank you

Mark

Mark, I think you need to reset the SSRS keys through the SSRS utilities which you would need access to the OS on the SQL server to get to.
