AxSetup.exe has stopped working - Installing Enterprise Portal

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to install Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 - Enterprise Portal on my SharePoint 2013 Foundation.

.NET Business Connector is already installed and configured correctly. When I'm trying to install Enterprise Portal the Setup Crashes.

The Enterprise Portal Component is installed but in the configuration sequence of the setup the installer crashes.

I found some event logs but google doesn't help me here:

6.0:
The Assembly 'Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.MatrixPivotGrid, Version=6.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' Or one of it's dependencies could not be loaded.

The specified resource type was not found in the image file

6.0:
The Assembly 'EPPlus, Version=4.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=ea159fdaa78159a1, processorArchitecture=MSIL' Or one of it's dependencies could not be loaded.

And finally the appcrash eventlog:

    Have you installed Service Pack 1 on SharePoint Foundation 2013? It is required according to the AX System Requirements guide.

    Hi,

    Yes SharePoint 2013 Foundation Service Pack 1 is installed. Windows Server is also patched with the latest updates.

    The only advice I can give is to verify the pre-requisites. I know that SSRS components installation were crashing when the wrong ASAMO component was installed for a specific version, maybe it is a similar case with the Enterprise Portal installation.

    Also make sure that your AX environment is fully compiled and configured (license, configuration keys, generic setup) before you try to get Enterprise Portal working.

    Finally, try to deactivate the Windows Firewall in the Domain profile, and disable antivirus software if you have any on your server temporarily.

    Run the installer with elevated rights (right click, run as administrator).

    Okay and how can i detected if the wrong asamo component is installed?

    It is not necessarily the ASAMO component, because that is for reporting, and most likely not EP. Check the AX System Requirements guide that which components are required for deploying EP, those are the suspicious ones which you should verify.

    This is the reason why I suspect it might be related to an incorrect deployment of a prerequisite component, or AX initialization/firewall/antivirus issue.
