Upgrade from Premise to Cloud with Dual Use rights

Hello,

One customer of us has already Dynamics 365  for Sales & Customer Service with Dual Use rights - file:///C:/Users/ch.kefala/Downloads/Dynamics_365_Enterprise_edition_Licensing_Guide.pdf

"One of the advantages of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is dual use rights. This allows customers the option to deploy the server software either in Microsoft’s cloud or in a private on-premises or partner-hosted cloud. In some cases, customers may want to deploy both types of instances simultaneously. This might be done to help with migrating a Microsoft Dynamics 365 on-premises deployment to Microsoft Dynamics 365, running private Dev/Test deployments in Microsoft Azure. "

My question is:

He wants now to move to cloud . He doesn't  want to have anymore servers and CRM on premise.

Taking into consideration that he has Dual use rights, which is the process to move to cloud?

Thank you in advance,

Chrysa

    Hi Chrysa,

Can you elaborate bit more on the current infrastructure:

    --CRM Version,

    --Overall Topology

--How much data current CRM holds

    --Any Statutory Compliance requirement?

--What kind of authentication model customer is looking for? It will be Azure AD based?

    --[Most important] upgrade vs rewrite?

Generally customers in banking and insurance domain tend to host CRM solutions on a private cloud as they want to have control over the data.

For CRM 2011 customers MS is having a FastTrack program, which they can enroll and MS will help transformation

    --by running a scan

--provide a report of unsupported customization

--Azure infrastructure for intermediate CRM versions

--MS Manager to help with upgrade.

    Regards,

    Pranav

You can't directly move the On premise crm to on cloud . It means you are migrating your application from on premise version to online. If so then you need to use kingswaysoft or scribe tool to migrate your data along with the solutions from on premise to online. There is no direct option move in.

Pls follow the detailed approach given below.

Hope this helps. If the suggestion resolved your query .Pls mark it as answered/verified to close the thread.

    Hi Chrysa,

as Syed said there is no OOB way to automatically migrate onPrem to cloud.

There is a german Microsoft Partner that offers that integration scenario using its own migrationtoolchain:

maybe something like that could shorten your customers ttm.

    Best regards

As far as the licensing goes, he should contact his VAR or LAR in order to get him set up on Dynamics 365 (Online) using his existing licenses. Based on the number of users, he should be able to get multiple environments as part of his subscription.

As far as data migration, that is a different story.

He will have to use a migration tool to migrate his On-Prem content to the Cloud or try to use the Data Export service on Azure to get his data to the cloud (however, I am not sure when this will be available for Public in Europe).

As mentioned previously, he should connect with a Partner that will help him with the migration process.

It would be a one time expense, but after that he should be able to get rid of his On-Premise environment.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you all.

SiEBEN is the best integrator in Greece and we have already our tool for migration.

So , the question was that given the fact that he has dual use rigths if there was some other specific way to migrate from on premise to cloud.

But as i understood , the way is the same as in every other case.

If you’re a current Premise user, you can upgrade to the cloud version of your software. We’ll give you dual use rights, so you can keep using your existing license while also using the cloud version of your software.Dual use means that you can access and manage your software on premise and in the cloud simultaneously. You don’t have to make any changes to your existing infrastructure before upgrading. I was going through the number of articles and found out this https://txktoday.com/technology/why-frederick-douglass-still-matters-in-the-usa/ one which is about why Frederick Douglass still matters in the USA, and luckily I have got a lot of knowledge about it.
