Hello, We are using the Store Commerce app on Surface Pro 9 devices. Can we use the built-in camera to scan product barcodes in the OOB app or does it need customization?

Barcode scanning using the camera is not supported at the moment. If you are keen on using a tablet for POS, I recommend using tablet POS devices from Honeywell, and Zebra that come with a barcode scanner inbuilt.

Thank you for your responses. However, it appears that this feature is not currently supported in the out-of-the-box product. Microsoft has included this feature in their upcoming release plan. [Scan bar codes and QR codes in Store Commerce | Microsoft Learn].

Your question was related to Surface Pro which runs Windows OS. Please note the new update is only for SCA on iOS and Android.

Hi Shafeeque,

Thanks for the input and you are right, atm customization is the only option to support that. I know that you've mentioned it is not that user friendly it's just that the
customer want's to know if there is an OOB feature to scan products using camera instead of manually searching them in the SCA.
