I have posted warehouse receipt via sales return order without item tracking no.
I need to add item tracking no. to those return items.
Sales return order has not been posted yet.
Can I add item tracking on sales return order instead?
What's the difference between assigning item tracking from warehouse document and item tracking from sales return order?

A warehouse receipt on a sales return is the receipt, it is what puts inventory back into stock. Your location setup is what determines if you must use warehouse documents or not. Some users do not use warehouse documents and they can receipt directly from the sales return order.
I don't have warehousing turned on but you could look to see if you can 'unreceive' the warehouse receipt or unreceived on the return order. If you can reverse the receipt, then you can enter your lot numbers.
You should also look at your item tracking setup so that this does not happen in the future.
