Client recently migrated GP from a client/server environment to accessing GP via an RDP session. On the old system, therefore, each user had the GP client installed on their own workstation and each user emailed SOP order confirmations to the customers using their individual Outlook email profiles. For their new GP installation, they have installed a single GP client on the server and each user accesses the client with an RDP session. They don’t want to set up individual user profiles in Outlook for the users, but would rather use a single email alias for all users for outbound GP order confirmations. We looked at some third-party products, like Liaison Messenger, but they were too pricey for the narrow requirements of this client.
We also looked at the following post, which provided a methodology for accomplishing this, but client says that it does not work. Has anyone else successfully implemented this (and could perhaps share any "gotchas"), or does anyone otherwise have any ideas to help them?

Hi Craig,
Did you find a solution for this?
If not I think our solution would work well for the problem you are trying to solve.
Let me know if you would like to hear more about it.
Thanks,
Adam
Just to add to the discussion -- had the same requirement here. Users are on Terminal Server, but they have their own e-mail accounts.
We have a Sharepoint site integrated with GP that looks for any updates to the SOP Work tables once an hour. A workflow runs in Sharepoint with a nicely formatted email confirmation sent to the customer from a generic orders email address.
The notification only shows the first line item of the sales order -- but they can log in to Sharepoint themselves and look at everything.
Works like a champ!

Hi Craig,
I sent you my business card with contact info through the forum.
Shoot me an email and we can setup a time to chat.
It might be good to talk with you first and then we can take it from there.
Thanks,
Adam
Thanks for the reply Adam. I'll ask client for the specifics of "what" doesn't work for the KB workaround and get back to you. I'm interested in your alternate solution. Could we set up a time to chat with client? Or did you want to chat with me separately first?
Hi Craig,
I have been able to get this single email alias to work in and RDP enviornment. We actually use it for doing some product demo's, etc. However, there were some headaches regarding user security, Outlook Setup, Exchange, etc.
What does not work when they try to implement the approach you indicated above? I would be curious what the symptom is as it could point in one direction or another.
We also have a alternate solution that takes a slightly different approach to this sending of sales confirmations from a centralized account. If you are interested we could setup a time to chat about our solution for this so you can learn more about the specifics and see if it would work.
Thanks,
Adam
