Can you see who/when a custom field was added?

Recently I was doing a solution move and found that some new fields had appeared on our development environment. No description, not enough information to understand what they were, or why they were added.

I'd like to see if I can figure out WHO added these fields and the date/time, so that I can contact the developer and find out why/what purpose.

However, unlike workflows, there seems to be no way to research when someone added a custom field.

Or is there? Anything in xrmtoolbox or whatnot?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi partner,

    Unfortunately, the OOB field Auditing function only could track the record update actions.

    In general, only system administrator has the permissions to create new fields in forms. So that You can ask them who created the fields.

    I also found this post and Tim said they could know when the fields created with .net console app.

    Hope it helps.

    Best Regards,

    Unfortunately, there is no direct way to get the audit for field Schema, alternatively, you can check your source control if you are using any.  These details will be stored in the Entity.xml file.

    hope this helps.

    Hi Shannon,

            Unfortunately there is no direct way to identify who added the attribute.There is a table called "SystemForm" table there you can find the information that which entity got published when with which solution,may be check that get see for clue that when it got published.

    Try to retrieve the records which contains data with that field and see who createdby  and modifiedby of that record.Just have a word with those records owner/createdby/modified by.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Thangamani

    On top of what has already been suggested, you could also use XrmToolBox Fetch XML Builder and query the solution component entity and get the modified by

    <fetch version="1.0" output-format="xml-platform" mapping="logical" top="100" distinct="false" >

     <entity name="solutioncomponent" >

       <order attribute="modifiedon" descending="true" />

     </entity>

    </fetch>
