Dynamics CE, Sales, Field Service Using serial numbers

Hi Everyone
In Sales and field service we need to allocate serial numbers form the ERP (BC) to items. Sales and CS pre-allocate and field service confirm using parts. Is this out of the box or do we need to develop? Can this be done via virtual tables to Business Central same as Supply chain integrations? or is it best to sync (dual write in supply chain, data sync in BC)
