Importing Error "Column Headings Cannot Be Empty"

I'm using Dynamics CRM 2013 with a Mac. When trying to import data in a csv file to Leads, I'm getting the message "Column Headings Cannot Be Empty." All of the columns have headings. I've tried removing spaces in the headings and replacing with underscores, but still get the same error message.

    Hi,

Check that you have the same number of values in your data as you do columns. Also check that you don't have any values with commas in that are not text qualified. You can do this by loading the csv in to Excel and check that there are no values in a column that doesn't have a header value.

To text qualify a value with a comma in it you simply wrap it in double quotes (").

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    Hello,

Your spreadsheet may have a column field with a delimiter character within the cell value which would cause a row of data to not match the header columns. Double check your spread sheet, also try importing a subset of data first, maybe 10 rows in a separate file.

We can also try the below steps :

    1) Open the csv in excel.

    2) Copy all of the table to import.

    3) Create another sheet in excel

    4) paste special with values only in new sheet

    Thank You

Remove any special characters from your headings.  Hope that helps

After checking for commas or other delimiter characters on the header if you don't find any try and resave as CSV and retry.

I found that '/', '(', and ')' were triggering this error in my import file, even though only commas were selected as the delimiter. I had a column named Net Dr/(Cr) from some data I get from our Accounting department, and when I renamed it to Net_Cost, I was able to import it without getting this error.
