Cannot Connect to Management Reporter Server

My customer is an old Dynamics SL user (2015) and is also still using Management Reporter.  All users run from an application server and connect to the Management Reporter instance on the SQL server.  This afternoon they are reporting an issue where they are unable to run management reporter.  They receive the "Cannot connect to Management Reporter Server" error and are asked "Do you want to specify a different server address."

Note, Management Reporter continues to run properly from the SQL server.  Any thoughts as to why the connectivity may be lost all of a sudden.  I've made inquiries to the IT team as to if there were any environment changes but am still waiting to hear back. In the meantime, looking for any feedback that can be provided.

Appreciate the feedback.  Turns out this was due to a time difference between the two servers.  If more than five minutes apart, MR will not connect.

If Management Reporter works on the SQL Server itself but not from the application server, it’s sometimes network, firewall, DNS, or certificate binding issue between the two servers.

    A few things to try:
    • The port is no longer open.  Have IT check this.  (Since MR is running from the server, this is the more likely issue.)
    • On the MR server, stop and then restart each MR service.  (There are two services.)  I have seen where the services appear to be running but once you restart, an error is identified.  (This is usually a result of the MR Service Account being disabled, the password has been changed, or the password has expired.)
