Dynamics GP 2015 multi tenant installation error

Hi,

I was trying to install Dynamics GP 2015 multi tenant installation and stucked on following error;

"The account running the installation is not a valid service administrator of the discovery service.
The account running the installation is not a valid service administrator of the Management service."

I have successfully installed tenant services but during web client installation setup, it gives me above error.

My infrastructure is deployed on azure cloud. Three virtual machines are being used inside virtual network;

one for Active directory
one for MS SQL server 2016
one for all Dynamics GP related components

One domain user account with administrative rights is dedicated for tenant services installation or service administrator account.
One domain user account is dedicated for service and application pool.

Would be grateful for any help in this regard.

    RE: Dynamics GP 2015 multi tenant installation error

    please read the following (from TenantServicesInstallation and Adm inistration Guide) carefully:

    Service login IDs
    You have to specify a user account as the login ID for the Tenant Discovery Service,
    Tenant Management Service, and the Tenant Public Discovery Service. Use a
    different user account than you use to install Tenant Services. The service logins are
    given SQL permissions to the tenant database.
    Tenant Manager
    If you install the Microsoft Dynamics GP Web Management Console and the Tenant
    Manager snap-in, you have to specify a login ID for the IIS application pool. You
    can use the same user account that you use for the service login IDs.
    The user account that you specify for the application pool will be added as a
    delegating user for Tenant Services. You should not use this login for a service
    administrator, tenant administrator, or tenant user.
    You cannot use the login of a service administrator as a delegating user. If you try to use the
    same login for both, you will not be able to use the Tenant Manager snap-in of the Web
    Management Console.

    maybe the cause is: you are not the administrator of tenant service.

    tenant services installation and service administrator account must be different.

    Hi Charles,

    Thanks for your reply. I have created two accounts in my active directory;

    Active directory domain:  CTECH.COM

    "ctech\erpadmin" (This account has administrative rights on GP server. I logged in on GP server with this account and start GP and tenant components installation)

    "ctech\erpapp" (This account is a normal user. I used this account during tenant services installation, and mention it as service account for Tenant discovery service and tenant management service)

    I have checked in administrative tools ===> services that 'ctech\erpapp' is defined in log on as user

    for following services;

    Microsoft Dynamics GP Tenant Discovery Service
    Microsoft Dynamics GP Tenant Management Service

    You have mentioned that "tenant services installation and service administrator account must be different". Does i meet this standard?

    RE: Dynamics GP 2015 multi tenant installation error

    you use account "ctech\erpadmin" to install tenant service and web components?

    you use "ctech\erpapp" account to run tenant service?

    "ctech\erpapp" has SQL permissions to the tenant database?

    make sure the tenant service is working by type the following address in one of browser(e.g. IE)

    https://hostname:portnumber/TenantDiscoveryService

    https://hostname:portnumber/TenantManagementService

    Hi Charles,

    Thanks for your help.

    After working on database permissions sugegsted by you, i finally installed tenant manager.

    However when i start the web management console <<<hostname/.../>>> (using service admin id)

    and provide the tenant managemnt service url in tenant manger, in following format, it gives me error "invalid url"

    http://<servername>:<48631>/TenantManagementService

    however when i open the above service url, it gives service page with following message.

    """TenantManagementService Service

    You have created a service.

    To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe

    tool from the command line with the following syntax:""""

    Similarly TenantDiscoveryService URL is also accessible.

    What should i check now. Do i need to configure we application in IIS with port 48631 and 48631? if yes then how and what would be the applciation path?

    As there is no application or website configured in IIS on port 48630 and 48631.

    Thanks,

    Abdul Rahim

    please try to install Tenant service with https, and use the following address:

    https://<servername>:48631/TenantManagementService when you open it in web management console.

    it seems security problem.

    can you open https://<servername>:48631/TenantManagementService in IE?

    when you open WebManagementConsole you should see:

    also remind you: before you reinstall tenant service you should delete database "DYNGPDISCOVERY" if you use default database name for tenant service.

    I can open the below url but with http only in IE... Possibly i did not configure it with https. Is it mandatory to configure tenant management service with https?

     https://<servername>:48631/TenantManagementService
