Location Directive Putaway Strategy by occupancy rate in a zone

Posted on by

Hi all,

We have a customer where their receipt goods are putaway in 4 different zones and the picking is done by 4 differents teams simultanously and put away in a packing station.

As their product category depends upon the seasonality, setting up the putaway strategy by a static criteria (item group, product code filter, classe ABC..) could possibly fill the locations moreover in one particular zone, which could add additional work for the team in that particular zone.

So the requirement is to configure a putaway strategy on a zone, where the occupancy rate of the location is low.

Example :

Each zone has 100 locations, in which the occupancy rate of the zone is as below :

  • Zone A : 50 locations occupied > 50%
  • Zone B : 40 locations occupied > 40%
  • Zone C : 60 locations occupied > 60%
  • Zone D : 75 locations occupied > 75%

So, when the receipt goods need to putaway, the suggested location must be from the zone B, as the occupency rate is 40% lowest among the 4 zones.

Did you have any similar requirement ? if yes, how did you managed ?

Do you have any suggestions how this requirement could be met with a standard configuration ?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
There are no such out-of-the-box standard features that can achieve this. You can choose to customize the development to implement your needs, you can enlist help from a Microsoft partner who can help you with custom development: Find the right app | Microsoft AppSource. Or use business events to trigger workflows or other tasks, for more details: Business events overview - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft LearnBusiness events provide a mechanism that lets external systems receive notifications from finance and operations apps. In this way, business actions can be performed in response to the business events.
    Best regards,
    Kevin
