I have login accounts in Microsoft GP 2010 installation and another GP 2013 R2 Installation.  For comparison purpose , I   might be using  both logins simultaneously. Will this count two license ?  And   already got  a message  "The maximum number of users are logged into the system" . But after getting this message , I closed both the logins and tried to login to new GP, the same message coming always, even there is no other users logged in . Appreciate any help.

Is this in production or in a test environment? MS Dynamics GP is just like any other piece of software. You have one license and when you upgrade the license goes to the newer version and you need to discontinue the use of the old license. Now if this is just test the active user list is kept in DYNAMICS..ACTIVITY. You must have two of these, one for each version.  If you delete the records in each then you can log back into GP.

It is Production Environment. No records present in ACTIVITY table for my user login

    Hello Rinson

Regardless of the fact that there is no record for "your" user in the activity table, other users sessions must have reached the maximum number of licensed users.

When all the users are logged out of the system, run the queries below:

    SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS..ACTIVITY
    SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS..SY00800
    SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS..SY00801
    SELECT * FROM TEMPDB..DEX_LOCK
    SELECT * FROM TEMPDB..DEX_SESSION

-- If any records are retrieved by running the scripts above, proceed by running the below

    DELETE DYNAMICS..ACTIVITY
    DELETE DYNAMICS..SY00800
    DELETE DYNAMICS..SY00801
    DELETE TEMPDB..DEX_LOCK
    DELETE TEMPDB..DEX_SESSION

Proceed by logging to the selected company and check the number of allowed users (at the login screen)

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,

    Good Day

    Thank You for the Solution!

We have verified all those queries and removed zombie DEX_SESSION processes .  But still problem was there . After few hours, it is working fine without any issues . Here what you have provided definitely a good solution  but still something else may be the root cause .

Thank You again for the feedback

I have to agree with Richard on this one, the only way I know of to clear a user login from the system is from the Dynamics..Activity table.

Now, if you have two instances of Dynamics running, I am assuming you also have two instances of SQL - in that case be sure to check both Dynamics..Activity to see if there are records in either one.

Can other users access the system or is it just one user that is apparently locked out?

Mahmoud has provided a very correct method for verifying locked out users, but keep in mind if you are running both GP2010 and GP2013 you may need to look at both systems to find your problem.

    Good Day!

Now we are able to login without any issues . We will observe all the events if same issue repeats .  We need more posts regarding login issues.

Thank You for the  response .
