Multiple BOM Versions against one product/ colour/ size

Is that possible to activate multiple BOM versions against a one particular product; so that MRP can do the calculations for all the activated versions. ((same product which having multiple BOMs)

We are getting the order by season wise; and even though the product is same, Bill of materials are getting vary based on the season. And we do the production for both season at once.

As a solution; we tried by activating multiple bom version and activating the date function. But that did not work since there’s an overlap between the dates.

    Thanks Umesh,

    But I didn't found any useful hints from the above links. I think, there is no way to handle my above scenario in Dynamix AX.

    Have you set the BOM Version flag in the Coverage group of the item? It should obey the version dates with this selected and not just use the current active version, meaning with this ticked if in July 2015 the version changes, if the demand is in August 2015 it would use the July 2015 version not the current version.

    Hi Steven,

    Thank you for the feedback. (I'm new to AX) appreciate if you can help me with the steps which I should follow.  The below given is the scenario;

    BOM Version 1 =  Season A, 01st July 2015 to 18th July 2015

    Under BOM version 1, we could assume to  have below BOM line

    Fabric X - Supplier X - Width 144 CM, Consumption 14.5 mtrs

    BOM Version 2 =  Season B, 10th July 2015 to 30th July 2015

    Under BOM version 2, we could assume to  have below BOM lines

    Fabric Y - Supplier Y - Width 150 CM, Consumption 12.5 mtrs

    For the same product, based on the season, we have two different fabric suppliers. Further we do the productions for both seasons at once. Since there is a overlap between seasons, how can the master planning run and propose planned purchase orders,

    Please explain whether you have a solution for this

    Hi Stevan;

    Sorry! please refer to below scenario;

    BOM Version 1 =  Season A, 01st July 2015 to 18th July 2015

    Under BOM version 1, we could assume to  have below BOM line

    Fabric X - Supplier X - Width 144 CM, Consumption 14.5 mtrs

    BOM Version 2 =  Season B, 10th July 2015 to 30th July 2015

    Under BOM version 2, we could assume to  have below BOM lines (same item/fabric as Version 1)

    Fabric X - Supplier Y - Width 150 CM, Consumption 12.5 mtrs

    The item using these BOM's has a coverage group attached to it to enable planning to plan forward. The coverage group has a BOM Version flag. This needs to be ticked to allow AX to plan by version, which would mean if your demand falls on July 25th it would pick BOM Version 2, but on July 2nd it would be BOM Version 1.
