Do I need a solution to add 2 fields?

What is the proper way to add 2 fields to a form?  Do we always need a solution to make simple and small changes like adding a field to a form?  I dont want 100's of solutions if they are not needed.

Use the same solution and use solution patches or just import the solution each time.  You shouldn't create multiple solutions unless its for separate workstreams or something.

    Hi ,

Creating solution means the changes we can move to another environment , that does not mean that you always need to create solutions . Why you are not using same solutions to add the fields ?

Its always good practice to have minimum solutions and reuse same solution as much as possible.

There may be scenario you need  to deliver some project with Agile mode in that case you can use solution patching keeping on base solution and creating new patch referencing the same base solution. You should not create new solution for every requirement , reuse the same solution and overwrite the same solution.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

if you want to move to another environment. Yes, use solution and include the entity and form.

    Hi kewlman123,

Any changes you make in a solution are carried over to the default solution. Think of solutions as containers for your changes.

I recommend creating an unmanaged solution to hold your changes and only adding components as required. Only adding the components that you need results in a small solution that is quick to publish and transfer between instances. A minimal solution also makes it easy to find your changes. I usually do not recommend making changes to the default solution directly.
