Year-End Closing: next fiscal year is already open but GP wants me to open it

When trying to close the 2010 fiscal year of a company I get the following message $Your next next fiscal year must be an open year if you want to close this year$ even though 2011 if already open and even some batches have posted

Thank you for the reply. I've checked, 2011 is still open. It is a weird issue and I'm not sure where to look next.

This issue has been resolved.

For some reason year 1998 was opened. I just closed it.

Is 2011 in fact still an 'open' year. I know it has been created, but is it still 'open'. To find out quickly go into Administration > Setup > Company > Fiscal Periods and then pull up the 2011 fiscal year and check the top of that window to see if the 'historical year' checkbox is checked.

I am at Convergence right now but I'll check back tonight to see if another has answered this question. If not, I will do a little research and report back.
