I am getting the following error while installing CRM 2013 onto a Windows 2012 server (web) connected to another windows 2012 server (database - sql server 2012).

15:06:39|  Error| HResult=80004005 Install exception.System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.InstallConfigDatabaseAction failed. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Connection Timeout Expired.  The timeout period elapsed while attempting to consume the pre-login handshake acknowledgement.  This could be because the pre-login handshake failed or the server was unable to respond back in time.  The duration spent while attempting to connect to this server was - [Pre-Login] initialization=21044; handshake=0;  ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The wait operation timed out

Any Ideas?

    Hello Lan,

The issue seems to be with the connection between CRM Server to SQL server.

There can be some issues with the firewall.

Is there any Antivirus installed then please uninstall it and then try to install CRM 2013

    Refer the links below.

    social.msdn.microsoft.com/.../connection-timeout-expired

    social.microsoft.com/.../021a55c6-e810-48d7-8312-f5db7d5a07bc

Please temporarily disable the firewall and try to install CRM 2013 again.

You may also try below step increasing connection timeout .

    blogs.msdn.com/.../you-may-see-an-instant-timeout-when-connecting-to-a-mirrored-database-from-a-net-application.aspx

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Aftab,

Yes, disabling the firewall did resolve the issue. I can now install CRM successfully.

The only problem now is that when I try and startup CRM, nothing happens. It's as though the website just doesn't exist, even though I know it does!

    Any ideas?

    Ian.

Check organization status (deployment manager) ,Let me know your database version. Only "sql server 2012 with sp1" recommended by Microsoft.

It is the RTM. I'll get SP1 installed and let you know.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

What is the exact scenario while trying to access the crm website. If you try to access crm website using the browser, what is the exact message you are receiving. Or is it that you are just getting a blank/white screen.

Can you please share the screen shot of this.

    Thank You !

    Hi Aftab,

I hadn't switched the "IE Enhanced Security" option off. Doing so made CRM work, so I now have a fully functioning CRM system!

    Many thanks for your help!.

    Ian.
