Store Operations Manager won't remember database connection info

Hi All

After what I though was a successful migration of the SQL database for Microsoft Retail Management system I have come across a strange problem.

I moved the database from an old PC to a new Server and even managed to connect 2 PC's to the database with an issue. (A Register and what was the old database server).

The problem I now face is there are 3 more PC's to be pointed to the new Database which I have done through the Store Operations Administrator software by going to file --> Configuration and putting in the required info, I test the connection and get a connection successful result. But when I click ok on the dialogue box to close the configuration section the Store Operations Administrator doesn't remember the new database server information and defaults back to the old information. Meaning if i try to launch Store Operations Manager or Store Operations POS they aren't able to connect to a database.

Is there anything I have missed or is there something cached in the appdata folder for the logged in user.

I am running Store Operations Administrator v2.0.0110 on a Windows 7 64 bit OS, the problem also happens on a notebook running XP pro.

I am stumped on this and any help would be great.

Make sure you are entering the info in both places, SO Admin | File Connect and then File Configuaration.

Also make sure that you either logged into Windows as an administrator or if a Standard User, you have Read/Write access to the Registy keys for RMS.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Retail Management System

As Jeff stated, you must be logged into WINDOWS with an Administrator account, then load Store Operations Administrator and enter your settings. Then they should stick.

good day, your new system appears not to be an admin account. You need to make sure its administrator before you can make changes.

    Hello,

This is mainly due to user security restrictions.

Check if the windows logged on user has rights to modify the registry as RMS stores these connection information in the registry

    All the best

your system is not in admin mode, revert to admin and the settings will stay
