Check description printing on check

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We recently upgraded to Dynamics GP 2015 from Dynamics GP 2010.  We are seeing new behavior with the check description field.  Previously, that field did not print on the checks/stubs but after the upgrade, the description is printing on checks/stubs.  Placing information in the comment field is helpful from an Accounting perspective but we do not want that information on the checks/stubs.  The check layout in Report Writer does not include the description field, so I'm perplexed as to why it is printing.  Can anyone help with this?

Thank you for your post, Leslie.  We are not using a third-party product to print checks.  I had checked Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports for the user who is cutting checks and made sure she was set to use the modified version of "Check With Stub on Top and Bottom - Graphical" (which is the check style we use).  However, I hadn't checked DefaultUser in Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports and that user was not set to use the modified version of the report.  This was the case for most of the modified reports we use (i.e., DefaultUser was no longer set to use the modified version of the reports we have set up in Report Writer).  It seems the upgrade to Dynamics GP 2015 reset those settings for DefaultUser.  Thanks for urging me to check Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports.  Problem solved!

    Hi,

Are you using a third-party product (like Mekorma) to print your checks? Have you checked the Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports ID to make sure it's pointing to the correct version of the report? This has (I think) to be controlled by report writer if that is what you are using to render the report. Which check format are you using?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
