Uninstalling ADX Portals

Hi All,
I wanted to provision a new CRM Portal for my CRM environment, but I am not able to delete 5 of the remaining adxstudio solutions from the CRM online environment in order to uninstall ADX Portals. The 5 solutions have internal dependencies which are not allowing me to delete these solutions. I have tried all possible ways of removing the Internal dependencies from these solutions but I am unable to do so. Since I am unable to uninstall the ADX Portal I am not able to install a new CRM Portal.  Can anyone help out in resolving this problem? Thanks in advance.

The below image shows the solutions that I was able to uninstall have a check in the checkbox and the remaining solutions are the ones which I wasn't able to uninstall.iamge-1.png

There are bugs in the CRM solution management that are resulting in the issues you are experiencing. MS is aware of them and are working to correct them. Unfortunately until they have communicated a fix you will either have to wait or leave any residual solutions in place.  Officially I don't believe that the upgrade is currently supported, directly as a consequence of the issue with solutions you are seeing. These are problems with the crm platform itself so workarounds like using a holding solution and the like generally don't work.

    Hi Craig,

Thanks for your reply. I was earlier able to delete most of the Adxstudio solutions from my Dev Environment, but 2 solutions (Adxstudio Portals Base and Adxstudio Portals Dependencies) weren't getting uninstalled so I left them as residual solutions as you said and I was able to provision a new CRM Portal on my Dev CRM environment. But I am facing the above issue on my UAT CRM environment.

Could you post the specific details for the error for perhaps the helpdesk solution?  I "might" be able to help depending on the problem, but can't make any promises.

    Hi Craig,
I am getting the following error message on deleting the adxstudio help desk solution as shown in the below image.dependencies-on-adx-helpdesk-soln.PNG

The Dependency details are as shown in the image below on deleting the help desk solution

There’s no need to remove the dependencies one by one and you should not be removing any Microsoft CRM Portal entities too.  Please follow the step by step instructions mentioned on the link below.

I know the above article is for CRM portals but holds true for ADX portal solutions too.

The main point is to determine the order in which they were installed.  Then we can uninstall in reverse order.

Referring to the highlighted text below, you can use the base URL to retrieve the sequence of the solution.

Just replace ‘v8’ with v7 in your case.

    Hey Lester,

Microsoft has recently released a guide to Re-Implement or Migrate the Adxstudio Portals to Dynamics 365 Portal.

    Please check:

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/crm/2018/02/14/migrate-from-adxstudio-7-to-portal-capabilities-for-dynamics-365/

    and

    http://colinvermander.com/tag/adxstudio-portals-v7/

Follow the instructions given in the article. I hope you will not face the issue then.

    Good Luck.

If found useful, please mark the answer as verified.

    Cheers
