Emailing reports

We are setting up our in-house Dexterity application on a Citrix server.  Once up and running, we will set up Dynamics as well.

However, we have come up with a problem.  When a report is printed to the screen, it gives the option to send via email (standard Dexterity report).  When we try to email the report, it asks for an email profile.  However, the profile is already set up.  If we print a report and save it as a pdf and then use the email function within Acrobat, no profile is asked for, which is what we expect.

Is there a configuration issue or an ini file setup we are missing which is causing it to always ask for a profile.  There is only a single profile set up for the user.  If it only asked once per user it wouldn't be a problem but it is asking for every report.

It appears to be a Dexterity issue with Citrix.  We have been using our application on TS for about 7 years now and not had the problem.  We are currently moving to Citrix and have been coming up against this problem.  We were trying to get our application installed and working correctly before migrating GP across to Citrix.

Good work Mark. Didn't know that. Thanks for posting the resolution to close it out. Is this an issue with GP? or is it a feature of Citrix / TS? ie where does the 'problem' reside?

    Best Regards,

    Ian.

Thanks for the replies.  I posted this in another forum and got and answer from one of the Dynamics development team.

It is a "feature" of the system.  It will always ask for a profile the first time you try to email after logging in. It works fine in a fat client setup, but has this issue with TS or Citrix.

Hi, Are you using Outlook? (Outlook express is not completely MAPI). To test if a valid profile is set up go to Start >> Run, type in 'mailto' and click ok. If a new email window opens then you have a valid profile (I think this also means that your email application is MAPI compliant). Its a start anyway...other than that I can't advise.

    Best regards,

    Hello Mark,

I would recommend taking a look out at the Developing for Dynamics GP blog,  http://blogs.msdn.com/DevelopingForDynamicsGP/ .

There is some great information available on the blog.

    Thanks

    Jen
