KB3205084 Causing "Invalid User Authorization"

I applied the KB3205084 update to my test environment (does not have CBA/IFD configured whereas production does) which was On-Prem CRM 2016 SP1.  After applying the update I am now unable to login with any user account regardless of security role:

The only thing I could find trying to search this error was technet article regarding CRM versions 1.2 & 3.0: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-dz/help/860612/error-message-in-microsoft-crm-or-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-client-for-outlook-the-user-authentication-passed-to-the-platform-is-not-valid

From the link above Cause 1 and 3 are immediately ruled out in my case leaving Cause 2.  Because this is a test machine everything (i.e, services, IIS AppPool, etc.) is all using NETWORK SERVICE for the service account and the AD Computer object for my test machine is in the correct CRM security groups as suggested.  Regardless this test server was working just fine before the KB3205084 update.

Right now mum's the word regarding this update as I can literally find nothing online about it.  Even just searching the KB itself pulls up hardly any results.

I have an on premise Dynamics 365 solution. I had to create a HTTPS url for the deployment. Once I started using the https url the error went away

Hi, I don't have an access with that part of the environment. I only have access with the CRM environment when I was in the project. I'm limited to do further investigation regarding this issue that time and I don't have an access with the crm anymore. thank you!

Hi Marjorie.  I came across a post the other day that "somewhat" helped.  Do you have CBA/IFD deployed?  If so, instead of using your internal URL, use your external URL to try and do what your doing.  When I used the external URL to edit the 'Site Map', which was one place I was getting this Invalid Auth. error, I was finally able to edit it.  However, I did find other places (a particular custom entity) that using the external URL made no difference and I still got the error.

I am also experiencing this error with my Dynamics CRM 2016 on premise.

    First,

    • The invalid Auth error appears whenever I try to click the button "Set Properties" while configuring one of my workflows.
    • This only happens when I'm trying to set the properties of one specific 'Custom Entity'.
    • What I did that fixed this is when I tried removing all fields from the default Main Form of the said 'Custom Entity'. Even when I tried putting back all the fields(exactly the same fields when the error still exists), the error message did not appear anymore.
    • Up to now the setting up of the properties for my workflow for that specific entity is now working as expected.

    However,

    • The Invalid Auth message appeared again, but in a different place. BUT in the same custom entity.
    • This time I am accessing the System Jobs to check my workflow progress.
    • When I try to open the created record from the job. Obviously, I am expecting that the created record from the workflow will open.
    • But the Invalid Auth message appeared. Note: this happens intermittently.

    -------

I'm afraid this may cause future issue/s in my CRM environment. :'(

I still can't edit the Site Map and continue to get the Auth. error.  I've found no solution.  It seems that other people are having this issue with seemingly random pieces of CRM.  In my case it's the Site Map others are getting it on Entities, Processes, Mailboxes, etc.

I've tried what ARDEE suggested (running CBA & IFD Wizards) and that did not resolve my issue.

Additionally the only issue I'm experiencing now is that I get the Auth error when viewing the Site Map.  Our sitemap was broken due to some duplicate "subgroup's" in the .xml which I manually removed.  I used my test machine to fix the Site Map, exported it as a solution and imported into our production.  After I did that I can no longer edit the Site Map due to the Auth. error.

In my case, I was using a Domain Admin account.

I would just like to say that I ran the Configure Claims-Based Authentication Wizard - (no changes, just next, next next) and then reran the IFD Deployment Wizard - also no changes and it resolved the issue!!!  I also noticed that my ADFS certificate rolled over and our CRM instance had not been updated to account for the new certificate!

    Hi

We are receiving the same error - updated last week - no one can log in to CRM today!  We were all working fine yesterday and this morning we come in and no-one has access.  Can anyone tell me what the cause is and how to resolve?
