FA Depreciation running for 4 days now

Hello,

We have over 567,000 assets.  Our deprecation process has ran for 4 days now.  I'm running a SQL trace and I can see the process is still running, but I am concerned about the length of time the process is taking.

Can anyone give me advice on what to expect with this many assets in GP?

Thank you,

Donnette

    That's the point that I wanted to touch upon. Assets have a master "Fully depreciated" flag which indicates that the asset is either Fully depreciated (Will be excluded from depreciation) or not (which means that the asset will be included in the depreciation)

    In this essence, certain assets with incorrect "Fully depreciated" flag cause a critical problem through depreciation, as thoroughly illustrated in Mr. Mariano article.

    One more thing to consider, the back up is always a mus before applying any suggestions.

    Your feedback is highly appreciated on the final results.

    After reading Marino's blog I ran this query:

    select COUNT (*) from FA00200 where costbasis <= .01 and DEPRECIATIONMETHOD <> 15

    We have 1229409 fixed assets that have a cost basis <= 01 that have a deprecation method.

    Should I update these assets to depreciationmethod = 15 (no depreciation)? That helped his client and I agree if there cost basis is .01 or less why would it be depreciated?

    It was mentioned in your inquiry that you've already checked on the SQL profiler, apparently there are processing running as you indicated. Although, have you been able to ensure that the depreciation is not locked in within an infinite loop ?

    Sometimes, because of certain assets that are fully depreciated (but have a flag of not fully depreciated), Dynamics GP enters an endless loop in which the same processes are being run over and over. Therefore, on your trace, try to look for similar pattern to detect if depreciation has entered an infinite loop or not.

    No other functionality available in out of GP. This is the standard, for more number of assests you need wait untill the process will be complete.
