Purchase order workflow item doesn't appear under work item assigns to my queue

Hi,

I have got a problem with purchase order workflow. On a manuel decision, I use conditional work item queue for assignment. But when a po is assigned to my queue, I can't see anything on the screen "home > common > work items > work item assigns to my queue". I can only accept the work item on the po itself. So I had to see all the po to find which one needs my approbation. It's not really helpfull....

Can someone please help ?

Hi. Is this a task or approval based step in workflow?

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thank you for your question.
It's a manual decision and not a task or an approval based step (see the highlighted step)

But if you know how to use a queue with approval, I am very interested in because I think that's not possible. That why I use a manual decision (fig 1). In Microsoft documentation I read : Queues are not supported for approval elements because the way users interact with them is different than tasks.

I also want to congratulate you for your excellent blog !

    Hi Guillaume.

I haven't used the manual decisions along with queue's before but it seems likely that they wouldn't appear in Workitems assigned to my queue as it isn't technically a workitem.

I wasn't aware that you could only use Queue's with tasks, but it does make sense.

What is your requirement that is requiring a manual decision?

Sorry for my late answer Jonathan, I had a hard day at work.

Depending on the purchase order, the director's assistants can approve it or not. So I use a manual task to ask an assistant if he can. If he answers yes, so he has to approve or reject the po. If he answers no, the workflow sends the po to the director.

Besides this, I need to find the right assistant because an assistant can't approve all the po. For example, the human resource assistant can't approve a po for a computer.

That's why I use a conditional work item queue. I am able to find the right one with the financial dimension on the po. A condition seems like "Purchase Order.Ledger Dimension.Financial Dimension is Value foo".

I guess I can use a review po task to achieve the same thing. The complete action can be used to approve the po, the return action to reject the po and the delegate or reassign to send the po to the director. I will try this way and give you a feedback as soon as possible.

Perhaps Microsoft will fix this issue in a future release.

    Hi Guillaume.

We have accomplished alot using ParticipantProviders to do what you are describing above.

I.E. Assigning to specific people based on fields such as Dimensions on the source document.

I have tried the solution I described above ant it's work as I want.

But if my customer wants another solution, I will use ParticipantProviders.

Thank you very much for your help Jonathan !
