Hi, I'm using a .net web application to create records of a custom entity. I have SharePoint integration enabled for that entity.

I need to upload files when creating this record and I need these files to be upload to SharePoint.

Do I need to create the SharePoint folder (where all documents uploaded within D365 are) myself within the web app?

Is there the only way to use the Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.dll or there is something out of the box as a result of having SharePoint integrated?

Yes - you will need to manually create the folder in sharepoint and then upload the file.

Although you can't use the Client.dll in your plugin you could create an Azure functon that does this for you and then invoke it from Dynamics.

This would be simular to the technique shown at www.oak3.org/.../creating-sharepoint-site-dynamics-crm-azure-functions

Thanks for your reply Scott, I found this that confirms what you said.

Performing these operations on SharePoint location records only manipulates the data in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. It does not create, update, or delete the locations on the SharePoint server

I've checked the SDK documentation and looks very limited, we can't event get the SharePoint siteURL that is integrated with D365.

Hi Scott,

I have a similar requirement to upload note attachment in sharepoint from crm online plugin. I have configured sharepoint in crm for contact entity.

And in sharepoint I can see a folder created Contact automatically. Do I need to still create a folder programatically in plugin? If so why?
