How to remove deactivated CRM contacts from Outlook

Is there a possibility to remove not synced contacts from outlook? Currently only active contacts get synced by default but not synced contacts stay in outlook and do not get removed. Is there a way to easily remove those contacts in bulk without having to reinstall outlook or deleting the SQL Server instance from the computer?

    Hi,

    Can you please read below

    Hello Stefan,

When you delete a contact in Outlook, it does not deletes the same in CRM. Since you have a lot of deactivated contacts in CRM, I suggest you to take a backup of your Outlook Contacts, Delete CRM contacts which have been synced and then sync back the contacts. Refer this link.

That does not cover contacts that are deactivated in CRM. The thing is Outlook only syncs active contacts and now the common user expects that if I deactivate a contact in CRM it gets removed from Outlook since Outlook should only have the active contacts.

What you are saying has been in my wishlist for a long time now where deactivtaing a contact automatically deactivates it in Outlook.

However once you have deleted all your CRM contacts from outlook, I suggest you to sync Active contacts or My Active contacts in Outlook.

Well yes but if you have a lot of people editing those contacts and also deactivating them you cannot tell all the sales representative to delete their contacts and sync again, especially if they are not so much into it.

    Agreed - lol

I love the part about them "not so much being into it".

The default behavior should be to update/remove contacts from Outlook that have a relationship with Dynamics.  IMO, this is super basic functionality that should be available.  Maybe it is by now?  I'm just starting my search!

I just thought I'd comment since I found your comment pretty funny.

    Hi Stefan,

since here (www.powerobjects.com/.../dynamics-crm-and-outlook-contact-interaction-know-the-rules) says that changing the owner will remove the contact from Outlook .  I would assume that changing the contact record status to inactive will do the same thing.  (it's also a filter in the outlook sync)
