Convert the currency within the journal

Posted on by 2,432

Hi All,

My accounting currency is the Singapore dollar (screenshot 1).  I want this journal to convert to EUR based on the exchange rate that I set up.  In the General tab, I selected EUR (2nd screenshot).  The exchange rate is 1.10 which is correct.  When switching to the Overview tab, the currency now displays EUR, but the amount failed to convert to EUR (screenshot 3).  It's still 1000 SGD.  Am I missing any checkbox to make it convert?  Thanks so much!

    No :-)

I need to think through it and test it.

    Hello Kim,

Seems that there is a misunderstanding here and different community members understand your issue differently ;-) including me.

Can you have a look at the responses and clarify the issue - if required - by providing additional information.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi @Kim

as Sourav stated , changing the currency doesn't mean that the system will change the value accordingly, it means that the value in the amount field is in the selected currency ....

what is your ledger currency and reporting currency ? if your ledger currency is SGD the system will do the exchange from Selected I EUR ) to SGD ..

    Hi Kim,

The currency parameter in the general tab should be in sync with the currency parameter that you see in the overview tab.

It seems that this is not the case here.

I would recommend that you talk to a developer to check out why this is not the case.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

RE: Convert the currency within the journal

    Hi Kim Johnson,

Changing currency code in journal line will not change the value in that journal line.

For example; you put SGD 1000.00 in journal and later change the currency to EUR. That means; now the value 1000.00 in journal line is the value in EUR and not in SGD anymore.

When you post this journal, system will update both company currency and secondary currency value in posted transaction as per exchange rate setup between EUR-SGD.

But why calculation method is showing "USD-EUR" ? This is actually showing exchange rate between these two currencies and not between EUR-SGD currencies.

Is there exchange rates available for this currency pair  EUR-SGD ?
