Removing Analytical Accounting from a Dynamics GP system

Hi,

Hi,

I'm running GP 2016 RS2  16.00.0641 (R2). I was trying to remove AA from all companies. So, I used the steps in this KB but when I ran the KB915903_10.sql on the Company Database I received the following error (at the end of the results:

--------------------------------------------------------------
Printer Settings...

(0 rows affected)
Smartlist Entries...

(0 rows affected)

(0 rows affected)

(0 rows affected)

(0 rows affected)
Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure AA_Remove_AAComplete, Line 74 [Batch Start Line 91]
Invalid object name 'DYNAMICS..AAG00102'.
_________________________________________________________________

I ran the above script on the company DB before running the KB915903_AA_Remove_AAComplete_DYNAMICS_10.sql on Dynamics DB.

Anyway, I reinstalled/added AA after the above and I received the message that indicated that a previous version of Dynamics GP was detected.

When I go back to Add/Remove programs and remove this feature (AA), I'm able to launch GP Utilities fine with no errors.

I ran the following two scripts on the Dynamics DB and no records returned:

Select * from DB_Upgrade where PRODID='3180'
Select * from DU000020 where PRODID='3180'

Any thoughts?

I think Utilities will state a 'previous version' has been detected regardless, that window doesn't change at all........it just means it detected something needs to be done........whether it be a new install, update or whatever.

Continue past that and it should install Analytical Accounting accordingly.

    Derek,

For some reason, these tables do not exist in Dynamics and Company Databases. Also, the delete statement found no records in these tables with this Product ID (i.e. nothing deleted).

As soon as I go back to Add/Remove programs, add Analytical Accounting then launch GP Utilities, I receive the message:

a previous version of Microsoft dynamics gp has been detected

    Very strange

Drop AAG00102 and AAG00101 from DYNAMICS and drop AAG00314 from every company database.

You can use the SY01500 table for a list of company databases. I mention this because if you leave the AAG00314 table in one database, it'll make Utilities think it is upgrading and not installing anew, which will cause version errors and what not.

    Thanks

    Thanks Derek.

One clarification: Drop Table AAG00102 and AAG0010 should run on DYNAMICS DB or the COMPANY DB? I understand that DROP Table AAG00314 should run only on the COMPANY DB but was not clear on the #d & #e above if I should run on DYNAMICS only or not.

  • RE: Removing Analytical Accounting from a Dynamics GP system

    Use these scripts:

      --Against the DYNAMICS system database:

        a. Delete DYNAMICS..DB_Upgrade where PRODID = 3180

        b. Delete DYNAMICS..DU000020 where PRODID = 3180

        c. Delete DYNAMICS..DU000030 where PRODID = 3180

        d. Drop Table AAG00102

        e. Drop Table AAG00101

--Against each and every company database as mentioned in the DYNAMICS..SY01500 table:

        a. Drop Table AAG00314

After doing this, when you launch GP Utilities with AA installed, it will treat it like a new install and install it at the current version of GP, instead of attempting to upgrade it or seeing any other versions or remnants of this product.

Let me know if you have any issues with these scripts or steps.

    Thanks

RE: Removing Analytical Accounting from a Dynamics GP system

    Derek,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I want to remove it completely and reinstall. If there are any data in these tables, it would be completely irrelevant at this point. So, can I delete the AAG00102 and AAG00314 tables? Or what would be the next step?

  • RE: Removing Analytical Accounting from a Dynamics GP system

If you have Analytical Accounting installed but don't have any PRODID 3180 records in the DB_Upgrade table or DU000020 table, then Dynamics GP and Utilities will look for 'sub-feature' tables in the system and/or company databases.

In this case, AA looks for the AAG00102 and AAG00101 tables in the DYNAMICS/system database and the AAG00314 table in each company database.

If it finds these tables, it deems the product as being installed and then will assign it a version, which will be something like 7.50.0 or 8.0.0.

If it doesn't see any records in the DB_Upgrade or DU000020 and also doesn't find any of these sub-feature tables, it deems the product as 'Not Installed' and will act accordingly.

At this point, are you trying to reinstall Analytical Accounting anew at your current version or remove it completely?

    Thanks
