I've been asked to get the Retail Mass Deployment functionality working for our retail environment. I have everything setup in AX and can export the Retail Topology. But one of the first steps outlined on Technet is to initialize the toolkit.
This step fails and the error is referencing a SCCM dll.
F:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Retail Scaleout Deployment\ConfigManagerToolKit>RetailConfigMgrToolkit.exe -o
CreateRetailApplications -contentRootFolder "\\MYSERVER\F$\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Retail Scaleout Dep
loyment\ConfigManagerContent"
The firewall ports that are defined in the deployment topology will be opened on computers where Microsoft Dynamics AX c
omponents are deployed by using System Center Configuration Manager. These ports must be open for Microsoft Dynamics AX
components to communicate with one another.
Press 'Y' to continue, or press any other key to cancel.

Could not load file or assembly 'AdminUI.WqlQueryEngine, Version=5.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e
35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
If I skip this step and attempt to import the retail topology (-ImportRetailTopology), it fails to do that with references to an SCCM site and a list of parameters.
EDIT - I changed up the parameter (had a "-" where it shouldn't be, and now it's attempting to perform the import and I get back the same above referenced error to the SCCM dll.
So the question...do I or do I not have to have SCCM installed? There are multiple references where it's explicitly stated to go the SCCM route, or the self-service route as well as implied choices in the instructions in several spots. But it would appear that I'm forced back to SCCM, making it mandatory.
