Integration with external master data management software

Hello,

We have a requirement for integrating external master data management e.g. customer master and vendor master with D365FO. What should be the default go-to options/integration choices in this case? The source of truth for the master data in a cloud-based ERP system and we do have access to database services as well.

The current form is to manually update the data using the import-export module. Update frequency is required on daily basis.

I have the same question (0)

Thank you all, I think I got the starting points I was looking for and will work with them.

    Hi Qamar,

The integration part is possible. Sergei shared interesting links which you should read carefully. Next to just integrating the customers and vendors, you also need to think of distributing the master data with other legal entities where you possible want to maintain the link via the Party ID.

Can you elaborate on the database services access? What are your requirements here?

    Hi Qamar,

Where does the source system exist?

If you have access to their database services then I would suggest to write a simple logic apps which connect to their database and then send that data across to Finance Operations either using OData (if you want to send one-by-one record) or custom web service (if you have huge volume of data then best option)

    Hi Qamar Khan,

There are several factors you need to choose while implementing integrations (volumes, real-time\not real-time, frequency). Do you need to implement integration in both ways (in\out)?

If it's one full export\import per day and you don't need to have a real-time exchange, I recommend going with Batch data API.

For real-time you would choose oData for inbound flow and Business events for outbound (if you don't need to send full data all the time).
