Export to Excel from FRx vs Mgmt Reporter

My customer recently upgraded from GP2010 to GP2015. While they were on GP2010, like many customers they stuck with FRx.  And, as many of you know we are sort of forced to convert to MR with GP2015. That's beside the point I guess. :)

They have a simple tree:

-Consolidated Level

   --Company 1 Consolidated Level

       ---Company 1 Detail 1

      ----Company 1 Detail 2

  --Company 2 Consolidated Level

      ---Company 2 Detail 1

      ---Company 2 Detail 2

When exporting to Excel from FRx every single later of this tree gets a Financial tab and an Account tab. However, when exporting to Excel in MR the "Company Consolidated level" (bold above) does not get an account tab. It gets a financial tab, and the detail layers below it each get a financial and account tab, as expected. Does anyone know if this is by design or if this is a bug?

Let  me know if you'd like me to attach screenshots of files.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

Have you selected detail level of your report to give Financial & Account.

Yes, thank you...I did neglect to say that. Every layer of the tree exports with Financial AND Account except the "lower level" consolidated layers of the tree. Essentially only the Consolidated at the highest level and then actual units from a company get the -A tab in Mgmt Reporter. The manually created Consolidated level of two detail units does NOT export the -A (account detail) tab.

    Hi Heidi,

This is by design for Management Reporter.

It looks like this has been entered twice in the Microsoft Connect site.

Thanks Trenton, one of those is actually my post :), but yes reading the other it is the same issue.

Is there any way you can explain why this is by design? is it too difficult to include that one "account detail" in MR? Or..???

Thanks for any insight you may have.

    Heidi

RE: Export to Excel from FRx vs Mgmt Reporter

    Hi Heidi,

The main thing to remember is that MR is not considered an upgrade to FRx. The design is based on FRx and is the recommended replacement application but never meant to be a 1:1 upgrade replacement.

To my knowledge the extra Account Detail tab from FRx was actually a bug that was never taken out of FRx.

Seeing that this is one of the higher voted submissions I would hope that it is being looked at for inclusion in a future update.

Thanks Trenton, and completely understood. It's just that it's hard to explain to users who are already resistant to leaving FRx. :)

    Have a great day!

    Heidi
